Name the exiles

The Eskdale & Liddesdale Advertiser is asking families who know of exiles returning for Common Riding day to give us their names for inclusion in the paper on Thursday, July 26.

You can either call in at our office in the High Street, ring 013873 80012 or email eskdale.news@cngroup.co.uk. Please give us the names by Monday, July 23.

 

Annual plan

BORDERS: The council has approved the 2012 development plan scheme which is published annually and includes a participation statement setting out how, when and with whom it will consult on the various stages of the local development plan.

It is currently anticipated that the next stage of the local development plan process will be the production of the proposed plan which will be available for public consultation in spring 2013.

Mast application

PENTON: Dumfries and Galloway council has raised no objections during a consultation by Carlisle city council on putting up a 50m high meteorological monitoring mast for one year at Low Glendinning Rigg.

Felling agreed

ESKDALE: Dumfries and Galloway council is raising no objections to a forest plan consultation from UPM Tilhill at Kirtleton North forest, Langholm and felling licences from Forestry Commission Scotland for Buccleuch Woodlands’ Kerr Wood, Langholm and for Billholm forest, Eskdalemuir.

Silage plans

ESKDALEMUIR: Andrew Reid & Co of Glendearg has applied for permission to build an earth-walled silage clamp and installation of an effluent tank.

Building bid

BENTPATH: William Ewart of Partridge Ghyll Cottage, Carlesgill has applied to build an agricultural building at The Burn, Carlesgill.

Displays judged

LANGHOLM: Shops and businesses in the town will be judged on their Common Riding window displays next Monday at 1.30pm.

Group meeting

ESKDALEMUIR: The Upper Eskdale development group is holding its AGM in The Hub tonight.

Members are requested to attend but everybody is welcome. It will be followed by live music with Sammy Adgo and food and drinks with a Mexican theme. Nomination forms to be on the board of directors must be handed in by 5pm today.
