PLANS to build a footbridge connecting Newcastleton with Rock UK’s activity centre and the 7Stanes mountain biking trails have been revealed.

Liddel Water: A footbridge is planned to connect Newcastleton with Rock UK and the 7Stanes trails

The scheme for the 45m-span bridge across Liddel Water, which is projected to cost £300,000, is to be submitted to Scottish Borders council’s planning authority in the next few weeks. Half of the money has been raised by Rock UK, Scottish Enterprise and the council and this is being used to apply for match-funding from the Scottish government’s rural development programme.
