LANGHOLM’S diamond jubilee celebrations at the rugby club on Sunday, June 3 are taking shape.
The Big Lunch is a one-day get-together for the community to mark the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.
Margaret Sanderson, chairman of Langholm community council, told members that they had held a meeting two weeks ago and another one was scheduled for May 21. They had secured the services of the town and pipe bands and the Langholm Sings choir and they were now drawing up a timetable.
David Stevenson had said he would be happy to open the event and the Rev Scott McCarthy would say a prayer.
The Scouts were going to be doing several sideshows for the young people and the Xcel Project were running games. Council vice-chairman Ronnie Tait was organising a tug-of-war.
