THE Queen’s diamond jubilee was celebrated with community parties all over Eskdale and Liddesdale last weekend and a right royal time was had by all.

No prizes for guessing who turned up at the big picnic at Langholm’s rugby ground last Sunday when dozens of families were entertained with music and games while they enjoyed good company and good food.

Canonbie celebrated the occasion last Saturday and combined it with a party to mark the hall’s centenary, while Newcastleton hosted children’s sports, a fancy dress competition and a 1950s disco in Her Majesty’s honour.
