THE floral group in Newcastleton has been awarded £873 by the Teviotdale and Liddesdale area committee. The money will be put towards the floral festival day being held on Saturday, July 21.
Nine residents will open their gardens to the public and a floral art demonstration by Andrew Dalton will take place in the church to encourage interest in horticulture.
A variety of other activities will be on offer such as a scarecrow competition, live music, bouncy castle and community stalls, along with cream teas and botanical art exhibition in the village hall.
The Liddesdale heritage centre will be open all day, with talks by Joan Robson. The grant from the council will contribute towards insurance, live music and hall hire.
