ANNANDALE & Eskdale Sports Academy have made the most of the interest in cycling generated by Bradley Wiggins with a week-long track cycling school in Annan.
Champion cyclist Wiggins won the Tour de France and a gold medal in the time trial at the Olympics.
Around 150 children from Annandale and Eskdale showed their own cycle skills on the Everholm running track, Annan’s very own velodrome for the week.
Alan Denman, Scottish Cycling development officer, led the sessions, supported by Annan youth cycling club, still in its infancy but rising quickly to prominence in the South of Scotland cycle project.
John Grierson, site director at Chapelcross and a keen cyclist, representing sponsor EnergySolutions, said: “Chris Hoy and now Bradley Wiggins have certainly raised the profile of cycling in the UK. It is great to see the Sports Academy offering kids the chance to develop their cycling skills.”
Councillor Denis Male, Annandale and Eskdale area committee chairman, said: “Scottish Cycling and Annan youth cycle club have contributed to another three days of great activity.”
