A MENU of chicken chow mein and meringue nests with fruit coulis and cream has earned Langholm Academy S3 pupil Ellie Hotson the Rotary Club young chef of the year award.
Langholm Academy hosted the annual event in the home economics department last Tuesday. Judge and rotary member Billy Wilson said: “Congratulations go to all our budding young chefs.
“The standard was easily the highest yet.”
The eight finalists cooked two courses for two people in two hours, for less than £10.
Ellie was presented with a trophy and a James Martin chef knife and now goes forward to the area final next year.
