A world of her own

LANGHOLM’S theatre group Centre Stage are putting the finishing touches to their next production Through the Looking Glass: Alice the Musical which runs from August 22 to 25 in the Buccleuch Centre.

Directed by Daniel Scott and Hannah Cumming, Through the Looking Glass is a new musical based on the book by Lewis Carroll.

Meet Ennis, a female lowland tapir, has been born at Galloway Wildlife Conservation Park, near Kirkcudbright. The calf, which was born on August 3 to parents Maisey and Kiarad, has been named Ennis after Britain’s newly-crowned Olympic champion Jessica Ennis, after her Olympic triumph in the heptathlon.

The Naworth Castle antiques and fine art fair near Brampton runs from Friday, August 31 to September 2.
