John Hodgson and Connor Mitchell thoroughly enjoyed the experience of marching through the streets to the Buccleuch Centre for the Common Riding meeting.

A third member Mungo Mann will join John and Connor on stage at their joint concert with Jedforest Instrumental Band on Saturday, May 20 in the Buccleuch Centre.

The band have been rehearsing for the concert under their musical director Chris Shanks who travels down from Glasgow. They have worked hard to pull together a fantastic programme with something for everyone.

The Langholm band will be joined on stage by their friends from the Jedforest Instrumental Band who are coming along to play in the first half.

The Town Band will perform in the second half before some massed band items provide a fitting finale.

Tickets are on sale at £5, with schoolchildren admitted free, from The Paper Shop, Langholm, Kerry Mitchell in Newcastleton and from Christine Calvert on 013873 80425. Alternatively, pay on the door. It would be great to see a large audience to welcome the visitors.

The band’s AGM will be held in the band hall on Friday, May 26 at 7.30pm. All are welcome.

June and July are busy periods for the band and they will keep everyone updated with their monthly news.

If anyone is interested in joining the band, all ages are welcome. Please get in touch with Christine Calvert on 013873 80425.

She said: "We would love to have some new faces to come along and learn a brass instrument or one or more of our many percussion instruments that we have. Everyone welcome.
