Margaret Railton of Meg's Home Bakes celebrates her success on her opening day

The owner Margaret Railton said: "The opening day was absolutely fantastic, I had a really busy week baking and it was well worth it. I opened at 8am and by 9am the 120 scones I had baked had gone and everything else was sold by 11.30am, which included a fresh cream Victoria sponge, a chocolate drip cake and a gin and tonic cake.

The shop, which is on the High Street in Langholm, will be open Thursdays and Fridays 8am to 4pm and Saturdays 8am-1pm. On sale will be Margaret's home baking, Abbotts Chocolates, home-made tablet by Lockerbie Tablet, jars of sweets, a small selection of cake decorating equipment and cake tins for hire. Coming soon are edible images.

Margaret said: "I am thankful for the support I got from Business Gateway and Langholm Initiative and the grant I received from them and the CX Project through Business Gateway.

"I would like to thank my customers for their continuing support and appreciate the good luck cards and wishes I have received."
