FIFTY-five horsemen braved the rain and the wind to follow Cornet Stuart Murray on the Benty ride-out last Saturday.

The poor weather did not deter the riders from enjoying a few gallops over the hills before they dropped down into the village where they were welcomed by cheering supporters.

Having handed over their horses, they went into the hall where they were treated to a delicious tea by the Westerkirk WRI.

After a two-hour celebration of toasts and singing in the hall, it was time once again to pull on the waterproofs and head back home through Westerhall and over Castle Hill where they had to find their way through low cloud.
