Polly has already run a ceilidh which raised £1,700. She is going to Senegal in September to teach for a year with Project Trust.

The experience of immersing herself in another culture on another continent is a long-held ambition for the 18-year-old.

Polly, the daughter of Shona and Paul Armstrong-Wilson, is a former pupil of Glenzier Primary School and member of the Eskdale Pony Club.

She is having to raise £6,200 so PT can send her overseas. This covers medical insurance, flights, living allowance, accommodation and 24-hour support from PT. She is now about three-quarters of the way through reaching her target.
