Copshaw Tub Ian Nichol, his flake Lesley and daughter Keira celebrate his election

Ian Nichol has been voted in as the Copshaw Common Riding Tub for 2017 after a very large public vote last Saturday.

It seemed as if the whole village had turned out to vote, young and old together, as it should be.

It was a very well-contested election and thanks must go to Deev Mitchell, Mark Richardson, Callon Herd and Sam Downey for their campaigns, much more enjoyable than referendums, Brexit etc.

Tub Nichol is now preparing for his ride oot bye and bike clip doo which take place on Saturday, June 24.

All are welcome to come on the ride oot. If you have not done it before, you are in for a treat.

The big day, of course, is Saturday, July 1, when, hopefully, lots of followers will be out in force to help Tub Nichol with his duties on the day.

Ian is a founder member of the Common Riding and his ambition was to try to be Tub before his 50th birthday. He has managed this with only days to spare and becomes the 20th Tub, a real landmark.

So, get your steeds dusted off, tyres inflated and follow the Tub on both June 24 and the big day itself on July 1.
