Dog owner targeted with rat poison

Police in Newcastleton are investigating an incident in which a dog owner discovered six sachets of rat poison had been placed around their garden at Whisgills. The poison has been sent for analysis.

A sheep was found dead at Clerkleap, possibly from a dog attack, and a Blackface ewe lamb was killed in a sheep worrying incident at Whisgills.

Police were also called to Whisgills about possible animal cruelty involving horses and the SSPCA are dealing with it.

They also attended D'Mainholm farm after all gates into the fields from the main road to Whisgills were deliberately left open during the night to allow the sheep out.
