Complaints over 3G pitch condition

COMPLAINTS have been made about the level of maintenance of the 3G pitch on the Scholars' Field in Langholm.

Councillor Ronnie Tait, Annandale East and Eskdale, told community councillors that he had received a complaint from Davie Gordon of the Youth Rugby Trust.

Mr Tait said: "The pitch has not been maintained properly for a long time and the trust was having a real problem with it. They were very worried.

"It will be tested on October 19. If it fails the test, they can't use it until it's repaired and there are insurance implications in that."

The youth rugby section is considering playing games on the 3G in the future, something they have not yet done. They could use collapsible posts and paint on the lines.

The Scottish Rugby Union was being approached.
