This is an ideal opportunity for those receiving exam results on from the SQA next Tuesday to discuss options and support with college staff. The event runs from 4pm to 7pm.

Further Education (FE) students at the college justifiably celebrated their success and individual achievements at a number of award presentations which were held towards the end of the academic session.

The award evenings represented students undertaking FE courses - all courses except Higher National Certificates and Diplomas - from all subject areas of the curriculum.

They were business and administration, care, childcare, computing, construction, creative industries, electrical engineering, engineering and fabrication, hairdressing and beauty, hospitality, learning and skills plus, motor vehicle, Prince’s Trust, social sciences and education and sport and fitness.

Learners celebrated their special evenings with families, friends, staff and colleagues. They received certificates, awards and a variety of trophies and other prizes in recognition of their hard work during the year.

The award presentations began with welcome and inspirational speeches from the heads of faculty representing the relevant departments.

Some of the individual trophies and prizes included student of the year, endeavour awards and learner nominated awards such as the learner of the year.

This award was specifically nominated and judged by the learners themselves within each class group and was presented to the learner/s who deserved credit or special recognition.

The college and learners would like to offer special thanks to all the sponsors who have supported the college during the year and for their kind donations of prizes for these award presentations.

A college spokeswoman said: "As always, we wish continued success to all our students as they travel the journey of life and hope they stay in touch.

"Many will return to college to progress to the next level, some will move on to university, while others will be crossing the threshold into the world of work.

"To all, our message is the same; always strive to reach your full potential whether learning, working or in family life, create opportunities for yourself, live, love and laugh, stay safe and be happy."

The Higher National (HNC and HND) students from Dumfries Campus will celebrate their graduation on Wednesday, August 23 at the Crichton Church followed by refreshments at Easterbrook Hall.
