Careless driver fined

A COURT has heard how three people were injured when a teenage motorist failed to take a bend and collided with an oncoming car on the Annan to Canonbie road.

The accident happened in July last year when Andrew Hogg drove onto the opposing carriageway near Broats Farm.

The collision was head-on and he struck a grass verge before hitting a drystone dyke.

Fire and rescue personnel had to remove the door of the other car to remove the woman in the passenger seat and she and the driver, along with Hogg, were treated at hospital.

In the court at Dumfries Hogg of Ryehills Farm, Canonbie, admitted a charge of driving carelessly and was fined £500 with seven points being endorsed on his licence.
