Dumfries and Galloway Council closed the B6357 at Harelaw Sike to replace a culvert under the road and a large-scale excavation was undertaken.

The pipe culvert has now been put in place and the backfill of the excavation is almost complete.

Based on this progress, the contractor is working towards reopening the road to traffic under single-lane traffic lights by the weekend.

The need for the traffic lights is to complete the remainder of the works outwith a road closure.

Initially, the road was expected to be closed for several weeks until September 22 but the contractor made good progress so the route can be reopened earlier.
