£40,000 available to celebrate jubilee

SCOTTISH Borders Council has up to £40,000 to give away to its communities to help them celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June.

Council convener Alasdair Hutton made the announcement together with Captain Gerald Maitland-Carew, the Lord Lieutenant of Roxburgh, Ettrick and Lauderdale; Captain David Younger, the Lord Lieutenant of Tweeddale; and Major Alexander Trotter, Lord Lieutenant of Berwickshire.
