DUMFRIES and Galloway Council is celebrating after receiving a £10,000 grant from the Big Lottery Awards for All programme to support the Sports Academy Active Start initiative in Annandale and Eskdale.

After the launch of the Active Start Programme for under fives last November, the grant will ensure children will be kept active. The programme gives children the best start in life and these activities will be based on fun and enjoyment, movement and participation with a focus on encouraging a healthy lifestyle.
