Bike trail up for an ‘oscar’

THE 7stanes mountain biking project, which includes Newcastleton forest, has made it onto the shortlist of this year’s tourism Oscars, the Scottish Thistle awards.

Easterbrook Hall at the Crichton in Dumfries and the Wigtown Book Festival are also on the shortlist.

They are among 45 top tourism businesses which have made it through to the finals of VisitScotland’s awards this year.

The biking project is in the marketing initiative category which is being sponsored by VisitBritain. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Edinburgh on October 24.
