Top award for homes proposal

A 250-ACRE development which will eventually feature nearly 1,000 new-build bungalows or houses has been named the best in Dumfriesshire in a top UK housing competition.

Story Homes’ award-winning Summerpark site in Dumfries also has a range of community facilities and public open spaces, including playing fields and children’s play areas as well as woodlands and a nature reserve.

It is the biggest development project carried out by Story Homes, which completed a double in the Daily Mail UK Property Awards 2008 by having its Turnstone Park development in Carlisle named the best in Cumbria.

The Cumbrian-based company, which is headed by former Carlisle United FC owner Fred Story, is continuing to buck the trend of doom and gloom surrounding Britain’s property market.
