A7 dangerous drive charge

A MOTORIST accused of driving dangerously on the A7 through Eskdale in freezing rain has had his case adjourned without plea for a second time.
Philip Day, 46, of Edmond Castle, Corby Hill, Carlisle is alleged to have committed the offence over 3.3 miles between Auchenrivock and Canonbie in February.
It is alleged that he drove at speeds of up to 83mph, repeatedlyovertook in the face of oncoming traffic, crossing chevron markings during one overtaking manoeuvre, in icy conditions and freezing rain.
The case has been continued to July 2 by Dumfries Sheriff Court.
