Dumfries show gets set for a bumper year

DUMFRIES show is being held at Park Farm this Saturday and is looking bigger and better than ever.

There will be livestock sections of dairy cattle, beef cattle, horses, sheep and goats as well as a new section for Dexter cattle. Entries in the livestock sections are on a par with last year.

There is a varied selection of trade stands, mainly agricultural or equestrian-related and the craft fayre will have about 55 stands. The food festival has 20 stands and there are cookery demonstrations by Douglas Lisi and Tom Kirkpatrick.

The highlights in the main ring include the grand parade of prize-winning animals followed by a spectacular parade of heavy draught turn-outs.

There will also be a display by Ridgeside Falconry Team and the Dumfries & Stewartry foxhounds.

The show is open to the public from 9am to 5pm. Entry is £10 adults, £7 senior citizens, accompanied children free, unaccompanied children £2 and car park £2.
