Trading is good for cattle

THE Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart had forward 56 store cattle and 20 breeding cattle at the fortnightly sale on Tuesday, June 24.

Store cattle met a good trade throughout the sale. Top price of £725 for an Angus heifer from J Jardine, The Yett. Bullocks to £690 for a Belgian Blue from M L & L B Bell, Winterhope.

Principal prices. Store bullocks: Belgian Blue £690, £550 Winterhope; Charolais £660 The Yett, £650, £555, £540 The Ash, £528 Whamtown; Limousin £645 £570 Whamtown, £628, £620, £550 Winterhope, £590 Laverhay; Galloway £500 Ryehill; Angus £380 Mossview.

Store heifers: Angus £725 The Yett, £440 Hetherside; Charolais £595 The Yett, £545, £525, £515, £500 The Ash; Blonde d’Aquitaine £540 The Yett; Belgian Blue £475 Laverhay; Limousin £355 Bankshead.

Store bulls: Limousin £495 Bankshead.
