Proud first Castle Craigs ride-out

KC frontpage July29 LANGHOLM Cornet Graeme Murray led 102 followers to the Castle Craigs last Saturday. Crowds lined the High Street and Kirk Wynd to see them off in fine warm weather. Sweet William replace roses in the crown

KC Extra Les and Cornet July29 DUE to the shortage of Rambler Roses, the Crown was made with all Sweet William. Having been coached for several years by his aunt Ella, Leslie Murray made it all by himself for the first time this year.

Man from BBC gives go-ahead for broadcast

Taking steps to attract more dancers

af 1956-dancing EX-CORNET Bell asked for more support at the dance on the Castleholm on Common Riding night. It appeared as if the Cornet and his Right and Left-hand men were expected to lead off every dance and continually keep the thing going.

KC Extra 1985 sashing tie SLIP Anchor, at odds of 9-4, romped home to win the Epsom Derby, owned by Lord H de Walden, first for trainer H Cecil, and first for American jockey Steven Cauthen.
