Cart horses and thoroughbreds
As half past eight drew near the High Street took the appearance of a horse fair. From all directions came horsemen mounted on all sorts and conditions of animals from cart-horses to thoroughbred, all clattering to the Market Place to join the procession.

Looking cute with tots, ties and rosettes
THE Cornet Lee Earsman and his right and left-hand men Graeme Murray and Derek Hogg had their hands full at the cricket pavilion last Wednesday when they visited the mothers and toddlers’ group. Lee and his parents, Anne and Ian, judged the pictures of the Common Riding ties and rosettes the children painted.

Time is right for Lee to take Cornet’s reins
HE may be a little older at 32 but this year’s Cornet Lee Earsman believes he has timed it just right. Generally, Cornets are in their early 20s when they are elected, including Lee’s younger brother, Ian, who was 22 when he took on the role in 2003.
