Watching his friends carry the flag on Common Riding day gave this year’s Cornet Andrew Elliot the inspiration he needed to put forward his name for election.
Andrew Elliot and Connor are ready for their big day. Like Cornets before him, his family has a long-standing connection with the Common Riding
Andrew, 30, a farmer at Burnfoot in Ewes, is an accomplished horseman who grew up riding ponies on the hunting field but it took a different kind of courage to hand in his nomination in early May and ask the public to vote for him.
