Resounding cheers after Cornet takes the standard

A rather bright aspect was taken on by the weather, the sun making a gallant attempt to shine on the rapidly gathering crowds in the High Street and Market Place. At 8.30am, punctual to the minute, Cornet Grieve and his right and left hand supporters , ex-cornets Thompson and Irving rode up to the Town Hall to receive the standard.
Adam Grieve, a stationer, was the Cornet in 1912
Round and round was a sea of faces as Provost Easton, amid resounding cheers came to the doorway and handed over the flag to Cornet Grieve.
