Record-breaker Rae

Semi-jubilee Cornet Robert Rae is something of a record-breaker – this is his 35th consecutive year of riding the common, with only one interruption caused by the foot and mouth epidemic in 2001.

Robert, who was 23 when he carried the flag, began taking part in the ride-outs in 1977 when he was just 13. That year he rode with his father, Leslie, who, sadly, died before they were able to ride together again.
