Backing a winner

AN INNOVATION of the Common Riding this year was the wearing of the Derby winner’s colours.
We are not referring to the rosettes, but to the caps which were seen in profusion in the procession.
Prize for originality, however, goes to one enthusiast who sported a waistcoat in peacock blue and old gold.
This, while looking a bit loud, would have delighted Terry Thomas himself.
