CORNET Andrew Elliot will tomorrow carry the honour and pride of Langholm as he takes hold of the town’s standard and parades on horseback in the age-old tradition of protecting the people’s common lands.

Andrew, 30, will follow in the footsteps of his uncle Billy Young and grandfather John Young when officiating magistrate David Stevenson places the flag in his safe-keeping and urges him ‘to see gif a’ oor marches they be clear’.
