Thanks to horse riders and walkers

MAY I, through the courtesy of your columns, say thank you to all who took part in the ride-out on Sunday, August 20.

Firstly, a huge thanks to Kenneth Dickson and Robert Rae for all their hard work in organising another great event and to Buccleuch Estates and all the farmers for the use of their land.

To the marshals who helped keep the riders safe and to the Castle Craigs Club for the use of their equipment. Many thanks to Neil Stevenson and the Stoney Path Trust for their invaluable support.

To Ann Elliot and family for the wonderful hospitality shown to all the riders and supporters, which helped make it such a great afternoon.

A big a thank you to the women walkers and their four-legged friends for the funds they raised. Thanks to my fellow committee members and their partners for all they did and the women of the Royal Bank of Scotland who helped on the day.

Last, but by no means least, all the fantastic riders who took part and and all the people of Langholm and further afield who so kindly sponsored them, helping raise the magnificent sum of more than £6,500.

You should all be very proud of yourselves. Langholm may be A Wee Bit Toon but the generosity of the folk here is mammoth.

Thank you to everyone for such a sterling effort.
