Thanks to all Bonnie Langholm supporters

I WISH to report that after an EGM held last Monday, July 3, Bonnie Langholm has now been formally wound up.

Those present decided that the remaining assets of the group would be given to a 'recognised charitable body or bodies with similar aims’.

It was also decided that the remaining money in the bank account would be gifted to the Learning Base at the Academy and a cheque will be presented to the pupils at the first assembly of the new term.

This is to help nurture the pupils' horticultural skills and in recognition of their efforts last spring in helping to pot up the hundreds of begonia bulbs which are used every summer in the beds, window boxes and planters at the entrances to the town and along the High Street and also for their assistance with the planting of the tubs at the Buccleuch Centre.

Since its inception, Bonnie Langholm’s ethos has been that of ‘improving the natural appearance of the town and its amenities’.

I hope to continue for as long as I am able to maintain the projects the group has established.

In recent years I have been most fortunate to have acquired a reliable and knowledgeable working partner.

However, there is always room for more on the team. It is hoped to hold a retrospective exhibition of the group’s achievements later in the summer.

Finally, may I say a huge thank you to all who have supported Bonnie Langholm over the years not only for your financial assistance but also as watering team members and as litter pickers.

Without your help we could not have achieved so much.
