Bowholm hit for six!

BOWHOLM are still looking for their first home win of the season after another disappointing result last Saturday.
Once again, all of Bowholm’s luck was bad but they were also responsible for their own downfall with a calamitous first-half showing.
Bowholm understandingly started the game rather nervously because of recent results.
A few neat passing moves in the first 10 minutes were starting to breed confidence but this was rather short-lived.
Bowholm proceeded to concede four goals in the first half. The first two goals were the result of bad errors at the back, while the next two were good goals by Lauder.
But they were helped enormously by shocking defending from the whole Bowholm team. Bowholm’s teamwork without the ball during the first half was non-existent and totally inexcusable.
With the ball Bowholm are as good as any of their opponents. They scored on 18 minutes with a well-taken penalty from Ian Hall.
Brian Mattinson was unlucky not to score when his 25-yard shot hit the crossbar on 31 minutes as was Euan Stainthorp one minute from half time when his goal-bound effort was cleared off the line.
The second half was the same as in the previous two games, with Bowholm conceding a goal within two minutes of the restart. This put them 5-1 behind and made a comeback seem impossible.
Lauder sat back on their lead and let Bowholm attack them, which they duly did and played some good football.
With 15 minutes to go, Bowholm won a succession of corners. They were rewarded on the third one when Niall Mattinson volleyed home from seven yards to score their second goal.
Lauder made the score 6-2 from the penalty spot five minutes from time and with only two minutes to go, Brian Mattinson scored a well-deserved goal with a great header after good build-up play from Ian Todd and Stevie Ellwood.
Bowholm are at home again this Saturday against high flyers Earlston. Hopefully, the team will get a rub of the green and they will record their first home win of the season. Kick-off is 2pm.
